Move-Out Cleaning: What It Takes to Get Your Deposit Back

May 2, 2026 Mely's Cleaning Service LLC

Move-out inspections are more predictable than people think. Property managers walk the same route and check the same handful of places every single time — and those places are almost always the ones a rushed final clean skips.

Inside the appliances. The oven, the fridge (including the drawers and the seal), the dishwasher filter, and the microwave. This is where deposits go to die. An empty apartment can look spotless and still fail on a dirty oven alone.

Inside cabinets and drawers. Not just the fronts — the interiors, the shelf liners, and the tracks. Same for closets: shelves, rods, and the floor of the closet, which collects dust nobody looks at until it's empty.

Baseboards, sills, and trim. With the furniture gone, every baseboard is fully visible and lit. Window sills and tracks collect grit and, in South Louisiana, mildew. Both get checked.

Fixtures and vents. Ceiling fan blades, light fixtures (including bugs inside the globes), exhaust fans, and A/C returns. Then bathrooms sanitized top to bottom, and finally the floors — vacuumed, mopped, corners included.

Doing all of that properly on a house or apartment is most of a day, usually on the same day you're trying to move. That's why tenants, landlords, and realtors around LaPlace, Kenner, Luling, and Gonzales hand it to us instead.
